Coach Kenny Simpson is the creator of the Gun-T offensive system and has served as a head football coach at multiple high schools across Arkansas and Alabama, with sustained success at every stop.

Simpson is currently in his second stint as Head Football Coach at Southside Charter School. He initially took over a Southside program that had won eight total games in five seasons and was in the midst of a 20+ game losing streak. Under his leadership, Southside has reached the playoffs for four consecutive seasons and has won two conference championships in the past three years. His teams have now qualified for the playoffs in seven straight seasons overall.

For his work at Southside, Simpson has been named 4A-2 Conference Coach of the Year twice (2017, 2024), was a finalist for Hooten’s Arkansas Coach of the Year (2017, 2024), and was selected as the 4A-2 All-Star Nominee in 2016 and 2019. He also served as a coach in the Arkansas High School All-Star Game (2023) and was selected for the first FCA Texas–Arkansas All-Star Showdown (2021).

Between his two terms at Southside, Simpson served as the Head Football Coach at Searcy High School, a 6A program in Arkansas, during the 2020 season.

Prior to his time in Arkansas, Simpson was the Head Football Coach at Alabama Christian Academy in Montgomery, Alabama. He inherited a program that had gone 4–18 and led it to its first home playoff game in more than 20 years. He was recognized as the Montgomery Advertiser All-Metro Coach of the Year and 4A Region 2 Coach of the Year (2010).

Simpson began his coaching career at Madison Academy in Huntsville, Alabama, where he coached junior high football and basketball before advancing into a varsity football role.

Beyond wins and championships, Simpson has had a significant impact off the field. He has raised more than $1.5 million for Southside Charter and overseen multiple major facility upgrades, including new FieldTurf, a fieldhouse expansion, expanded home bleachers, a new press box, and a video board.

As an author, Simpson wrote his first book in 2019 and has since released 40 additional titles. His book Find A Way: What I Wish I’d Known When I Became a Head Football Coach has been a five-time Amazon bestseller across multiple categories.

The Gun-T System, created by Simpson, is now run by programs around the world, including throughout the United States, South America, Africa, Japan, Europe, and Australia. Over the past several years, he has personally helped numerous schools install and adapt the system.
